Thriving through childhood and beyond

Why this project matters

Service children's experiences evolve as they grow, and the support they need changes at every stage of their educational journey. This project is expanding the SCiP Alliance's Thriving Lives Toolkit into a comprehensive suite of evidence-based frameworks, helping education providers better understand and support Service children from early years through to higher education.

Timeline: 2023–2026

What we're aiming to achieve

  • Expand the Thriving Lives Toolkit to support children and young people aged 0 – 25
  • Strengthen understanding of Service children's experiences across education
  • Enable targeted, evidence-based support in a wide range of settings
  • Improve outcomes for Service children into adulthood

What We're Doing

  • Researching Service children's experiences across different stages of education
  • Developing Thriving Lives Toolkits for early years and higher education
  • Working with specialist partners to design and test new frameworks and resources
  • Piloting the toolkits across a range of education settings
  • Creating practical, accessible resources to support local implementation

The difference this project will make

  • Increased understanding of the impact of Service life on children and families
  • Improved access to evidence-based tools and resources
  • Greater confidence and capacity to identify and respond to need
  • Better outcomes for Service children throughout their educational journey

How this supports our strategy

Supports the SCiP Alliance 2022 – 2026 priority to expand the Thriving Lives Toolkit across the learner life course, from early years through to higher education and early career (Impact Goal 3).
