About

Heriot Watt University

Heriot Watt University hosts the SCiP Alliance Scotland hub in collaboration with the Royal Caledonian Education Trust.

Heriot Watt University was founded in 1821 through a conversation between two Edinburgh businessmen that would pioneer education for working people. Today we are shaping the world, an international university, a leader in transnational education with five campuses across the world in Edinburgh, the Scottish Borders, Orkney, Dubai and Malaysia. Echoing our founding principles of tailoring our curriculum to the needs of modern society, we are a powerful driver of the economy wherever we are in the world with a diverse student and staff population. In all of our communities we create a distinct university experience and provide a springboard for an international career.

The belief in education for all remains at the heart of what we do and we support and encourage students from all walks of life. Heriot-Watt University is committed to widening participation in higher education and offering the opportunity for university study to students from a diverse range of backgrounds who have the potential to succeed. Our Widening Participation staff support a wide range of different students who can be considered as coming from a widening participation background, including armed forces families and veterans.
