After an initial scoping meeting hosted in Bath last month, Dr Sally Griffin, Widening Participation and Access Manager, was elected as the first Chair of the Service Children Progression Alliance Practice Group in recognition of the work that Bath Spa University undertakes through its Access Agreement to support the progression of the children from military personnel into higher education. Dr Griffin has worked closely with the SCiP Alliance central team to develop this new group which will bring together practitioners, researchers and policy-makers to develop new support mechanisms and collaborations.

Phil Dent, Head of Community Engagement, Social Justice and Impact at the University of Winchester and SCiP Alliance Director said: "I am so pleased that Sally will be leading our practice theme in this innovative area of work. Her extensive experience and expertise in widening participation and collaborative activity make her the ideal person to lead the growth in scale and quality of work across the UK supporting the children from military families. We have already benefited from direct collaboration between her team and ours at the University of Winchester, and her leadership will cement and expand this to include organisations across the UK, bringing universities, colleges, schools, local authorities and others together for a common cause. I look forward to seeing what we can achieve together for this under-represented group."
