Wing Commander Andrea Dowds MBE

Wing Commander Andrea Dowds joined the Royal Air Force in 2004 after completing a degree in Tourism Management at Sheffield Hallam University. Her first posting was to RAF Kinloss as the Admin Staff Officer, followed by a range of subsequent tours across UK units and detachments to Al Udeid and the Falkland Islands.

Throughout her Service, she has undertaken a wide variety of roles, including infrastructure, administration, welfare, discipline, force development, community development, and media and communications duties across a tri-service environment. During her career, she also played a key role in COVID management, repatriations, and provided support to multiple operations, including Operation PITTING, for which she was awarded an MBE.

Wing Commander Dowds has recently assumed Command of Base Support Wing at RAF Lossiemouth and is delighted to be back in Scotland.

Married to Gareth, who also serves in the RAF, they have two boys who keep them busy outside of work.
