Dr. Charlotte Allan

Artist / Researcher, Starcatchers

Charlotte Allan is a theatre artist and researcher who has recently completed her PhD at the University of Strathclyde. Her thesis investigated audiences of babies, toddlers, and parents at Theatre for Early Years, and described how sharing in an audience experience can support the voice of the child and have a positive impact on the parent-child relationship. She has a background in performance, writing, and youth theatre, often exploring the places where playfulness, creativity, and learning meet. She is an associate artist with Starcatchers, Scotland’s Arts and Early Years Organisation, where she has worked on the Wee People Big Feelings project, mentoring professionals in Early Childhood Education and Care in supporting emotional literacy through creative practice. With her theatre company Ipdip Theatre she has created work for under-fives and their accompanying adults that is multi-sensory and interactive.
