Hub Cymru

The Hub Cymru was established in 2019 to bring together stakeholders from across Wales to share information and identify opportunities for collaboration in support of the 2,000+ Service children living in Wales.
The Hub considers the varied demographics and experiences of Service children in Wales—including the impact of mobility, separation due to deployment, postings, or training, weekending arrangements, and life within veteran families.
In April 2025, Hub Cymru hosted a development event to learn, connect, and help shape the future of the SCiP Alliance Hub in Wales.
Hub Aims:
- CONNECT diverse stakeholders to collaborate to support Service children, share challenges and collaborate on solutions whilst contributing to national discussions to ensure research and policy is informed by local knowledge.
- EQUIP stakeholders across Wales with knowledge, resources and support to understand the experiences and needs of Service children to support them effectively.
- INSPIRE action from others by raising the profile of Service child voice, run events and deliver projects to embed support and create a community, with a lasting impact to Service children.
- SHARE good practice and ideas not only within the hub but also across the community.

Previous Activities:
The SCiP Alliance Hub Cymru Development event brought together stakeholders from across Wales for a valuable day of learning, collaboration, and strategic planning to improve outcomes for Service children. Hosted by Millie Taylor (SSCE Cymru Programme Manager and Hub Chair), the event featured powerful insights from young people, schools, government, and hub leaders. Presentations covered strategic priorities, school-based support, and best practices for running effective hubs, with contributions from Welsh Government, Pencoed Primary, Haverfordwest High, and the SCiP Alliance team. Workshops enabled participants to shape the hub’s future direction, define priorities, and explore partnership opportunities. Perspectives from the Naval and Army Families Federations reinforced the importance of recognising the diversity of Service children's experiences. The event laid strong foundations for a more connected and effective approach to supporting Service children in Wales.
