East Midlands Hub

The East Midlands Hub was launched in 2020 and is led by LiNCHigher. The hub brings together organisations from across the East Midlands who are committed to helping children from Armed Forces families to thrive.
The East Midlands area has over 6,000 Service children spread across over 6000 schools, concentrated predominantly within Lincolnshire and Nottinghamshire. With a range of Military bases and many schools with small numbers of Service children on role, the hub aims to support small cohorts and spread best practice. In recent years, this has taken the form of the Lincolnshire Festival of Friends in 2024 and the Service Child Awards in 2025.
Hub Aims:
- Support Service children throughout their educational journey, with a particular emphasis on schools with small cohorts of Service children
- Support local organisations to host a range of events supporting and celebrating Service children
- Locate and engage relevant stakeholders to enhance the lives of Service children and their supporting professionals

Previous Activities:
On June 6, 2024, 27 schools gathered at Bishop Grosseteste University in Lincoln for the Lincolnshire Festival of Friends, showcasing projects aimed at enhancing the lives of Service Pupils. With over 35 schools participating throughout the year, the event has significantly impacted Service Pupils across Lincolnshire. Supported by Lincolnshire County Council and funded by LiNCHigher and the Armed Forces Education Trust, the project provided schools with specialised training through the SCiP Thriving Lives Toolkit, delivered by education consultant Matt Blyton.
